Cesar Rodriguez used to be Barca’s good gunman with 232 goals in official matches. His record stood for more than half a century, until Messi caught up on March 20, 2012 with a hat trick against Granada. Eight years later, Messi nearly tripled this number with 634 goals and hasn’t stopped.

On November 22, 2014, Messi overcame Telmo Zarra (Bilbao, 1940-55) to become the tournament’s top scorer. He did that with a hat-trick against Sevilla, bringing the record to 253 goals (in 289 games).
